The Opportunity

Structured apprenticeship with direct mentorship

Montrose Legacy Partners is a private investment firm founded to identify, acquire, and operate high-quality businesses in the New York or South Florida region. Backed by institutional-grade investors and high net worth individuals, we target companies with $5M to $35M in enterprise value.

We are selecting 1-3 ambitious undergraduates to join our Investment Team for the upcoming semester. This is a structured apprenticeship designed to bridge academic theory and the practical realities of M&A.

  • Direct mentorship: weekly 1-on-1 sessions with the Managing Partner covering work product and interview prep.

Educational Curriculum

  • Deal sourcing and origination: map fragmented industries and initiate proprietary deal flow.
  • Investment analysis: review CIMs, analyze P&L and cash flow statements, and build investment theses.
  • Live deal exposure: shadow calls with business brokers, investment bankers, and business owners.
  • Financial modeling: exposure to LBO models and back-of-the-envelope returns analysis.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute a capstone sourcing project in a specific vertical and build a proprietary target database.
  • Draft outreach campaigns to business owners and manage initial correspondence.
  • Screen inbound teasers against investment criteria including margins, recurring revenue, and capex needs.
  • Assist in preparing indications of interest (IOIs) and letters of intent (LOIs).

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student (finance, economics, or accounting preferred).
  • Strong interest in investment banking, private equity, or entrepreneurship.
  • Self-starter with grit and comfort working independently.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel shortcuts and pivot tables is a plus.

Compensation and Structure

  • Academic credit supported; we will complete all required forms.
  • Performance bonuses: $250 milestone bonus for a signed LOI from your lead.
  • $5,000 closing bonus if a lead you originate results in a closed acquisition.
  • This is an unpaid, educational internship.

Commitment

  • 10-20 hours per week, flexible around exams and coursework.
  • Remote for the duration of the semester.
